Revenue Generation

Revenue Generation

Charles Van Rysselberge has the experience to effectively raise dollars for membership-based organizations and for local government. This is achieved by creative designs that have been time tested for success in several communities (cities and counties) and in several organizations through membership dues… campaigns for operations, super fund campaigns for special projects and public ballot initiatives for sales tax/bond referendum “Vote Yes” campaigns, to secure needed revenue/resources for a myriad of purposes.

Funding for Operational Expenses

Having learned how to successfully implement Total Resource Development Campaigns at the Atlanta Chamber, where this style of campaign was invented, Van Rysselberge served as president and CEO of the Chambers in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Charleston, South Carolina where these campaigns have grown to provide approximately $2 million of annual operating expenses.

Funding for Special Projects

In 1987, Van Rysselberge was CEO at the Shreveport Chamber where $2.5 million was raised for an economic development initiative called “Priority One,” to support the eight “Shreveport Initiatives,” that won a national award from the American Economic Development Council.

In 1995, funded ($10 million) and managed the Forward Oklahoma City…the New Agenda Program with seven initiatives focused upon national advertising, technology transfer, international trade, existing business expansion, private sector development in targeted areas, military base expansion, and passage of Right to Work for the state, for the next five years. This was followed by Forward OKC II in 2000, with a successful $12.8 million campaign.

In 2010 and early 2011, a $5 million campaign for the Charleston Metro Chamber, was tested and approved by the Board of Directors…to Accelerate Charleston…with a focus on Education, Talent Recruitment, World Trade Center activities, and pro-business advocacy at all levels of government with professional lobbying services.

Funding from Sales Tax for Infrastructure

The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber raised the money and managed the “Vote Yes Campaigns” for the City of Oklahoma City on sales tax initiatives for a downtown renaissance plan called MAPS (for Metro Area Projects) for five years in 1993, and then a second campaign to briefly (six months) extend the tax in 1998, and for a short duration a sales tax to fund common, state of the art communications equipment for the OKC fire and police departments.

The Charleston Metro Chamber raised the money and successfully managed the “Vote Yes Campaigns” in Charleston County in 2004, for a half-cent sales tax to generate $1.3 billion over 25 years for transportation and greenspace objectives…and in 2010, for a six year, one cent sales tax for school buildings.
